Application for S1 Discretionary Place 2021 – 2022

 Notes to Applicants


1. Applicants are required to submit the following to the School Office in person during office hours between 4 January 2021 and 18 January 2021.
(a)  An application form for S1 Discretionary Place from the Education Bureau
(b)  An application form [download here] for S1 Discretionary Place from St. Mark's School
(c)  Three stamped and self-addressed envelopes
(d)  One photocopy of each of the following documents:        
(i) Birth certificate or identity card or passport

(ii) Primary 5 and 6 School Reports
(iii) Relevant certificates
(e)  (Optional) Applicants who have attained grade 5 or above in musical instrument examinations can upload their music performance to YouTube and send the link to the school by email (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) on or before 26 February 2021. Please refer to the Notes for Submitting Music Performance for details.

  Please bring along the originals of the applicant's identity documents (e.g. birth certificate, identity card or passport) for verification when submitting the application

  In view of the COVID-19 epidemic, parents could thoroughly consider the needs and associated risks of unsuccessful delivery, and arrange to submit the above  documents by post (the postmark date should not be later than the prescribed deadline).
  Office hours: Monday – Friday     9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.  &  1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
    Saturday                9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
2. All applicants will attend an online interview on either 13 March 2021 or 20 March 2021. We will inform applicants of the time and date of the interview in due course. Please refer to the Notes for Online Interview for details.
3. Each Primary 6 pupil is allowed to apply to no more than two secondary schools for a discretionary place; otherwise, his/her chance of acquiring a discretionary place will be forfeited. Once an application is submitted, the application form cannot be cancelled or retrieved.

The applicant’s primary school internal academic results and his/her position in the ‘Rank Order List’ supplied by the Education Bureau.



Consideration will be given to the applicant’s ability to communicate in English. Credit will be given to awards, good conduct, extra-curricular activities and services.


5. The number of S1 discretionary places available for application this year is 40.
6. Successful applicants will be notified by mail and phone on 31 March 2021 (Wednesday). Should there be any changes in residential / correspondence address and phone number, please let us know at your earliest convenience.
