The project has cultivated my greater interest
in science and technology, and has imbued me
with a broader understanding of the technology
that is ubiquitous in our daily lives. For instance,
during the design and research process of
our project, we tried to complete our project
practically and realized the science knowledge
that we learnt in the past was not only limited
to textbooks. During the thought-provoking
interaction regarding the design of our project
within the team, we thought about the possible
problems or flaws in our project and tried to
think out of the box and probe into solutions for
the problems. During our research process, we
found out that technology is omnipresent in our
lives, for example RFID systems are widely used
for the detection of objects or mensuration of
objects. Indeed, technology is shaping the future
world and we should always try to embrace and
learn more about it, as they are beneficial to our
lives.
Cheung Ka Ching (6A, 2020-2021)
The experience of joining the JSSE has
encouraged me to notice how our daily lives
can be improved by technology. Living in the
21st century, we sometimes take conveniences
for granted without noticing that technology is
created by our ancestors who were never satisfied
with what they had and were constantly making
life easier. The competition reignited my passion
and curiosity towards the world. At the same
time, it introduced a new way of improving life
— programming. I had never noticed how our
lives can be greatly improved with the help of
technology. Ever since joining the competition, I
keep an eye out for the subtle inconveniences in
life instead of dismissing them like I used to be,
I will now try and think of a way to change it.
