The study of literature ignites intellectual curiosity, inviting students to explore the depths of human expression. At St. Mark’s, we equip students with critical thinking skills, fostering a deep appreciation for the power of words and the beauty of poetry. Engaged with literary concepts, students learn to analyze, interpret, and appreciate the complexities of language, preparing them to be informed and articulate global citizens.
The Poetry Remake Competition, organized by the Hong Kong Education Bureau, enhances students’ awareness of English poetry by local poets, encourages artistic and creative expression, and fosters cross-curricular collaboration. Students craft their artwork based on a selected poem and write an artist statement explaining their ideas.
We are thrilled to announce that our talented students— Rain LAU (5A) & LI Pui Hiu (5B)—have been awarded the Commendable Award in the Poetry Remake Competition 2023/24. Additionally, FONG Hau Ching (6D) has achieved the Outstanding Award. This event inspires a deeper understanding of poetic techniques and themes through engaging activities that foster creativity and critical thinking. The competition enabled our students to demonstrate their literary prowess and artistic talent. Their poetic remakes revealed a wealth of creativity and a profound grasp of poetic nuances, blending artistic expression with a deep understanding of the themes and emotions conveyed.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to our talented poets and look forward to their continued success in the literary arts!
