The study of Geography ignites a spark of intellectual curiosity, inviting students to explore the intricate tapestry of our world. At our school, we strive to equip students with critical thinking skills through this dynamic subject, fostering a deep understanding of the environments they inhabit and the challenges they face. By engaging with geographical concepts, students learn to analyze, interpret, and appreciate the complexities of our planet, preparing them to be informed and responsible global citizens.
We are thrilled to announce that our talented team of students—YUNG Ho Lun Daniel (5B), LEUNG Shi San (5E), TAM Chak Man (5E), and LAM Bei Pak Isaac (5E)—has been awarded the Everything You Need to Know about Tropical Cyclones: Weather and Climate Quiz Game Competition 2024 Bronze Award (「全方位認識熱帶氣旋」天氣與氣候問答遊戲及短影片創作比賽2024 銅獎). This enriching competition, organized by Ho Koon Nature Education cum Astronomical Centre (Sponsored by Sik Sik Yuen), the Hong Kong Observatory, the Hong Kong Meteorological Society, and the Community Weather Information Network, sought to deepen students’ understanding of tropical cyclones through engaging activities that inspire creativity and critical thinking.
The competition unfolded in two vibrant stages: a weather and climate quiz, and a short film creation contest. Our students shone brightly in both arenas, demonstrating their teamwork and collaborative spirit. Their performance in the quiz revealed a wealth of knowledge about meteorological concepts, while their short film artfully conveyed essential information about tropical cyclones, blending artistic expression with a profound grasp of complex weather phenomena.
This achievement not only reflects their hard work and dedication but also aligns beautifully with the competition’s aim of enhancing students’ awareness of tropical cyclone monitoring, warnings, and the broader implications of weather and climate.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the awardees for their remarkable accomplishment! Your success inspires us all to engage with and appreciate the intricacies of our environment, reminding us that understanding our world is both a journey and a treasure.
