2024-11-20

At St. Mark's, we take immense pride in recognising the indomitable spirit of our students, who embody the courage to overcome challenges and inspire others with their unwavering determination. Living with dwarfism, TANG Tsz Kwan Josie (5E) has faced life with exceptional bravery, as highlighted in her recent features in Ming Pao. Her journey has been marked by relentless perseverance, including enduring multiple surgeries for scoliosis — a condition that would challenge even the most steadfast individuals. Josie has spoken candidly about her experiences, including the pain and struggle, and her resolute commitment to moving forward: 'Even it hurts, I must carry on.’

Through her story, she has championed awareness and acceptance, striving to foster understanding and compassion for those with differences. Her advocacy extends beyond her personal experiences, as she hopes to become a teacher one day to inspire and guide others who face similar struggles.

Josie's resilience is further reflected in her academic and personal growth, culminating in her achievement of the prestigious Youth Arch Student Improvement Award in 2022. This accolade recognizes her extraordinary journey of self-improvement and her contributions to raising awareness about diversity and inclusion.
