Have you ever pondered the tantalising possibility of having a backwards time travel, and more crucially, the boundless potential embedded in the intricate yet intriguing study of quantum physics? What would an intermingling of particles, or perhaps quantum entanglement lead to? Will it defy our preconception of everyday physics?
One of our esteemed alumnus, PO Hoi Chun, Adrian, who bagged 5As in Hong Kong A-Level Examination and received his Ph.D in Physics at the Harvard University, assumed the prestigious Hari Harilela Professorship at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, succeeding Dr. the Honorable Hari N. Harilela’s innovative and adventurous spirit to unravel the intricate interplay between locality, symmetries, and topology in quantum many-body physics.
His scientific acumen, inquisitive mindset, and unyielding dedication to transcending the boundaries of quantum physics, stood out amongst other ingenious minds and earned him the highly acclaimed Croucher Tak Wah Mak Innovation Award in 2023. His current research on quantum many-body states would be of vital significance to develop more efficient quantum computations and advance the field of quantum information processing.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations on the well-deserved honour bestowed upon Dr. PO. His sterling achievements serve a beacon of inspiration, motivating our St. Markans to embark on their ‘Straightway’ to excellence through dedication, perseverance, and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge.
